Senior Slump? Snap Out from It! We understand you have got worked very hard on the last years that are few each of those challenging courses, getting involved with numerous extracurriculars, accepting leadership positions, etc. And, you are certainly working very hard now on your college applications. You could feel very tempted to put your school work off in support of other, more exciting opportunities (senior ditch day, anyone?) But trust us, now’s not the right time to slack off. You came this far, and you want to ensure that you complete strong. And not just for your own personel peace of mind, you have your own internal motivations though we do hope. Realistically, though, exactly what will probably motivate you most to keep those year that is senior up is just a little one thing called the Mid-Year Report. The Mid-Year Report is a very Common form that must be submitted by your therapist after very first semester senior year grades become available. Our workplace takes these grades into consideration, and expects that the trend in your grades will continue. That means that when you’re earning grades that are high, there’s absolutely no explanation those As shouldn’t be reflected on your Mid-Year Report. And although we’re on the topic, senioritis just isn’t an excuse to let your second-semester senior year grades slip, either. We shall be sent a last transcript from your high school, and certainly will ensure that those grades are intact, too. As always, we reserve the directly to rescind any admission decisions. So, moral of the tale is: continue working hard, up until the very last day of senior year. And, prepare to the office even harder (but have lots of fun too) in college! The Art of the Supplement Our deadline that is first is around the corner. Is it possible to believe it?! December 1st is less than the usual month away. Students using for talent-based majors must submit a little more information, so we’ve clarified a few reasons for having the process. In addition to completing the typical App and USC Writing Supplement, students signing up to the Iovine and Young Academy, Roski class of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, School of Cinematic Arts, School of Dramatic Arts, as well as the Thornton School of musical must finish the Arts Supplement. To do that, students require to react ‘yes’ to the question, ‘Do you intend to submit an art supplement which means that your special skill in one or maybe more of this arts are going to be regarded as section of the admission process to University of Southern California?’ on the Writing Supplement. This permits the hyper link to Slideroom to appear in the left column of typical App. Auditions: Thornton: Students needs to be prescreened before being invited for the audition. To work on this, pupils must upload tracks to the ‘Fall DecisionDesk portal’ by the 1st deadline december. They must also complete the Art Supplement in Slideroom. December Thornton will send students an audition confirmation in late. Please only submit a Slideroom supplement for a major to which you are applying. Dramatic Arts: To schedule an audition for the BFA, students must suggest their top three audition date preferences on Slideroom. If pupils aren’t able to attend an audition that is live they must select ‘Recorded Audition’ on Audition Date Preference #1 and upload a recording on the ‘Media’ tab in Slideroom. Interviews: Dramatic Arts: All applicants applying to the BA in Dramatic Arts system are expected to schedule an interview with an admission therapist either in person or on the telephone. Students can sign up for this meeting on the Dramatic Arts internet site. Portfolio submission: Fine Arts: In addition to answering concerns about the student’s innovative experience, pupils must submit 10-15 images on the Media tab on Slideroom. These are typically added one at a right time and can not be added in PDF format. Iovine and Young Academy: Applicants are needed to submit an original video of no more than 1 minute that illustrates an original concept for an innovative item, service or system that solves an issue, addresses a need, or provides the opportunity. In addition for this video, students may submit up to 5 media files including artistic images, motion graphics, original music recordings, poems, and essays. Each of these elements should be uploaded to the Media tab within Slideroom. Architecture: pupils can upload drawing, sketching, painting, graphic design, photography, video, web-design, sculpture, ceramics and furniture design project examples to the Media tab on Slideroom. The admission committee would like to see proof creativity. Up to 25 examples may be submitted. Cinematic Arts: Depending on this program to that your student applies, students must submit a personal statement, writing sample, creative profile list, responses to quick answer questions, and URLs in Slideroom. The Media tab is where students should upload artistic sample, movie, and pictures.
